In the week ahead, earnings are likely to drive the action again, though we'll get a few important macroeconomic reports. Earnings: We've got the biggest week of the earnings season ahead of us, with 12 Club holdings set to report. Eli Lilly 's report Tuesday morning continues to be all about sales of type-2 diabetes treatment Mounjaro and weight-loss drug Zepbound. In DuPont 's report Wednesday morning, we're looking for a continued rebound in its semiconductor business following a sequential increase last quarter.

Read previewOne of my favorite hidden-gem theme parks is Silver Dollar City, nestled in the Ozark Mountains in Branson, Missouri. Both are owned by Herschend Family Entertainment, though Silver Dollar City opened first in 1960. I've visited theme parks all over the world and this now ranks as one of my favorites. There are also unique attractions at Silver Dollar City that I haven't experienced anywhere else — Grandfather's Mansion was one of my favorites. Eli Lilly not only reported a stellar second quarter, management was able to raise its full-year sales and adjusted earnings outlook as well. Though revenues were a tad short, earnings results were better than expected on a both a HAAP and adjusted basis. Constellation Brands' (STZ) sales and earnings results outpaced expectations. DuPont (DD) reported a good quarter prior to us initiating a position in the name. But the slight comparable-sales miss in North America prompted questions about the company's ability to hit its long-term targets of 10% to 12% revenue growth and 15% to 20% earnings growth.

BEIJING, May 15 (Reuters) - A top Chinese envoy will begin a tour of Ukraine, Russia and other European cities on Monday in a trip Beijing says is aimed at discussing a "political settlement" to the Ukraine crisis. "The visit ... is a testament to China's efforts towards promoting peace talks, and fully demonstrates China's firm commitment to peace," foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at a daily briefing. He is the most senior Chinese official to visit Ukraine since Russia invaded in February 2022, and his trip could coincide with the beginnings of a long anticipated counteroffensive by Ukraine to recapture territory seized by Russia. Ukraine is scheduled to be Li's first stop on his trip, according to two sources familiar with the matter. The visit comes weeks after Chinese President Xi Jinping held a phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskiy in late April, in the first talks between the two leaders since the war began.

The "invisible hand" is "using the Ukraine crisis to serve certain geopolitical agendas", Qin said on the sidelines of an annual parliament meeting in Beijing, calling for dialogue to begin as soon as possible. Emerson Electric (EMR) reported disappointing quarterly results on Wednesday, pushing shares of the technology and engineering company down 5% and forcing a downgrade on our newest holding. As a result, we are putting Emerson Electric in the "penalty box" and downgrading shares to a 2 rating from a 1. A penalty box means the stock has one quarter to show improvement — and should it fail to do so, it gets booted from the portfolio. Morgan Stanley's Adam Jonas cut his price target on Tesla to $250 per share from $330, citing weaker demand for electric vehicles, but kept his overweight weighting on the stock. Tesla's stock is down 68% year to date, and 42% in December alone. Tesla appears to be responding to the weaker demand by slowing the rollout of its cars. However, the weaker market for electric vehicles is a bigger threat to Tesla's competitors than Musk's company, Jonas said. "On a relative basis, the reiteration of our OW rating must be seen vs. more challenged EV-related peers such as EW-rated Fisker (FSR), UW-rated Lucid (LCID), and UW-rated QuantumScape (QS)," Jonas wrote.
